Statement of Purpose:

The Scholarship Committee awards scholarships to recognize high school seniors and technical school or college students who actively reside in Operation Relief Center-owned properties and have pursued academic or technical excellence. These awards are intended to provide financial assistance to student residents attaining their educational and career goals. Scholarships are funded by Operation Relief Center.

Eligibility Requirements - Applicants Must:

● Being a resident of properties owned by Operation Relief Center. (Confirmation of applicant’s residency will be confirmed by management and ORC staff); and

● Resident households must be in good standing, including no delinquent rent and or repayment for any damage; and

● Have a high school cumulative 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale or attend a technical school or college/university (applicants must provide evidence of an acceptance letter); or

● Hold a GED and will attend a technical school or college/university (applicants must provide evidence of an acceptance letter); or

● Be an existing student at a technical school or college/university with a 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale (applicants must provide evidence of current enrollment and current GPA).

Application Requirements & Checklist:

● Completed scholarship application form:

○ Student Information

○ School and Community Activities

● An official high school transcript with a cumulative GPA (must include Senior Year 1st Semester grades and be submitted via email by the Registrar's Office), OR

● Copy of GED Certification, OR

● A current official technical school or college transcript (submitted via email by the Registrar's Office); AND

● 3 - Letters of recommendation from a Teacher, School Counselor administrator, Academic Advisor, or Professor (the letter cannot be from a relative of the applicant)

● Photo (Head Shot Only)

● Essay response to one of the two prompts below (must be typed):

○ Describe a moment when you stepped outside of your comfort zone. What motivated you to take the risk, and how did the experience shape your understanding of yourself or your goals?

○ Think about a time when your perspective on an important issue changed. What caused the shift in thinking, and how has it influenced the way you approach challenges or relationships today?

Application Submission Instructions & Deadline:

All eligibility and application requirements must be met for an application to be considered for scholarship awards. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

All completed applications and transcripts must be emailed to scholarship@orctexas.org no later than May 31, 2026.  No application materials will be accepted after the deadline.
